The Seat Belt Analogy
Insurance is like a seat belt: it has to be in place before you need it. Putting a seat belt on after a crash doesn't do any good.
The same is true with insurance. Too many people think they can wait till they need help with an existing problem. They will find out too late that they made a big mistake.
Insurance as Gambling
Buying insurance is a gamble. Whether you buy this plan or that plan you are placing a bet that you are making the right choice for whatever's coming in the future that none of us can see.
And, like gambling, you have to be comfortable with the bet you place. The premium you pay is your wager and you should not pay more than you can afford to lose.
